BELGRADE — Women in police in the Western Balkans do not have the same opportunities for career advancement and there are still many prejudices which they face at the work place.
There is still a belief in Serbia that the police is "male profession" and that women are not able to physically or emotionally cope with work demands.
It is crucial to avoid gender blindness in human resources management within the Serbian Ministry of Interior, so as to develop a police organizational culture that fosters gender equality.
