How do Citizens See the Police, Security and Corruption

WESTERN BALKANS ─ Simultaneous presentations of citizens’ perceptions of police will be organized in capitals across the Western Balkans on November 6, 2018.

A regional network of civil society organizations POINTPULSE invites you to the presentations of results from the fourth annual public opinion survey “The Citizens’ Opinion of the Police”, which will take place on Tuesday, 6 November. 

The aim of the events is to encourage discussion on challenges regarding police integrity in the Western Balkans.

Answers to the following issues will be discussed:

• Do citizens feel safe?
• How much do the citizens trust the police?
• What do citizens think about the police as an institution?
• To what extent do citizens think that the police are corrupt?
• How to fight corruption in the police?

The perceptions of the citizens in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Serbia will be simultaneously presented and compared.

Research finding shall be presented by:

• Skopje, Macedonia − Analytica;
• Belgrade, Serbia − Belgrade Centre for Security Policy;
• Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina − Centre for Security Studies;
• Podgorica, Montenegro − Institute Alternative;
• Tirana, Albania − Institute for Democracy and Mediation;
• Pristina, Kosovo − Kosovar Centre for Security Studies.

The discussion will be conducted in Albanian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Montenegrin and Serbian. Simultaneous translation to English will be provided.
